Corozal is in the driest part of Belize, with significantly less rainfall than the south of the country. The dry season runs roughly December to May, with January through April the most reliable for clear skies and breezy days. Daytime temperatures stay in the high 20s to low 30s Celsius, dropping into the low 20s at night, with a steady trade wind across the bay that keeps the worst of the humidity at bay.
The rainy season picks up in June and runs into November. Showers are usually short and afternoon-bound, but September and October are the heart of the Atlantic hurricane season — hurricanes have devastated the town more than once in living memory, most catastrophically Janet in 1955. Travel insurance for this window is worth the price.
Carnival in February and the Day of the Holy Cross processions on 3 May are both lively local events. Belizean Independence Day on 21 September is the biggest annual celebration, with parades and music.
