The main entry point is Philip Goldson International Airport (BZE), about 15 km northwest of Belize City. Flights connect directly from US cities including Miami, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Los Angeles. There is no non-stop service from Europe; you'll connect through the US.
All travelers must complete Belize's digital Embarkation/Disembarkation e-form before arrival — submit it online at the official Belize immigration site. Passport validity must be at least three months beyond your entry date. Citizens of the US, UK, Canada, EU countries, and most other Western nations do not need a visa for stays up to 30 days; extensions are available for a fee, up to six months total.
There is an exit tax when leaving Belize — currently around BZ$57.50 if flying out, or BZ$20 for land or sea borders. Many airlines include this in the ticket price; check before you travel.
By land: Regular buses and shuttle services run between Chetumal (Mexico) and Belize City, taking around three hours. From Guatemala, the most-used crossing is at Benque Viejo del Carmen near San Ignacio; chicken buses and shuttles connect to Guatemala City and Flores (the gateway to Tikal).
By sea: Water taxis link Punta Gorda to Puerto Barrios and Livingston in Guatemala. There's also a ferry from Chetumal (Mexico) to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye.
