The dry season runs from late November through May. This is the peak tourism period, especially December to April, when temperatures are in the mid-20s Celsius (mid-70s Fahrenheit) and rainfall is rare. It's the best time for reef visibility and diving.
The wet season runs June through October, with heaviest rains in September and October — also hurricane season. Rain typically comes in afternoon downpours rather than all-day drizzle, so mornings are often fine for outdoor activities. The upside: accommodation prices drop significantly, and the jungle is lush and green.
November is shoulder season — the rains are tapering off, prices haven't yet peaked, and it's generally pleasant.
Best for diving and snorkeling: December through April, when seas are calm and visibility is best.
Best for budget travel: June through October, when rates drop and crowds thin out.
Lobster season opens July 1st, celebrated with festivals in San Pedro, Placencia, and Caye Caulker. If you're there, eat the lobster.
