Getting There

Hopkins is about 45 km south of Dangriga and roughly 160 km from Belize City along the Southern Highway. The village sits 7 km east of the highway down an unpaved spur road.

By bus, take any Dangriga- or Placencia-bound service from Belize City or Belmopan and ask to be let off at the Hopkins junction on the Southern Highway. From there a short taxi ride into the village costs around BZ$10. Ritchie's Bus runs directly to Hopkins from Dangriga several times a day — the journey takes about 20 minutes and is the easiest option if you're coming from the north. The direct service doesn't run very frequently, so check timings in Dangriga before you rely on it.

Shared shuttles and private transfers from Belize City take about 2.5 hours and can be arranged through most guesthouses or tour operators. This is the most comfortable option if you're coming directly from the international airport with luggage. A rental car gives more flexibility, especially if you plan to visit Cockscomb Basin during your stay — the sanctuary is best reached with your own transport.
