San Ignacio is about 100 miles west of Belize City along the Western Highway, one of the few fully paved roads in the country. The drive takes about an hour and a half. Buses run from Belize City via Belmopan, though the service can be sporadic and unreliable. A taxi from Belize City to San Ignacio costs around US$60 per car — if you can find travel companions, it works out cheaper and more reliable than the bus.
