Town Centre Park

The 30-hectare civic park at the heart of Coquitlam, home to Lafarge Lake and the annual Lights at Lafarge festival

Town Centre Park is the principal civic park of Coquitlam — a 30-hectare landscape of lawn, woodland, sports fields and the artificial Lafarge Lake at its centre. The park was developed in the 1990s on the site of former gravel pits, and forms the green heart of the planned Coquitlam Town Centre commercial and residential area.

The park hosts several major civic events each year. The Lights at Lafarge winter festival, running from mid-November to mid-January, is the largest free light display in Metro Vancouver — over 100,000 LEDs strung through the trees and across the lake, with several illuminated sculptural installations. The summer Concerts in the Park series runs on Saturdays from July to September, with free outdoor performances of jazz, folk and classical music.

The park has a 1.2 km walking path around the lake, a substantial children's playground, several picnic shelters, an outdoor swimming pool (open in summer), the Evergreen Cultural Centre at the south end and the Coquitlam City Hall at the western edge. It is directly accessible from Lafarge Lake–Douglas SkyTrain station.
