The BC Forest Discovery Centre, located about 3 km north of Duncan on the Trans-Canada Highway, chronicles two centuries of logging history in British Columbia through a mix of outdoor machinery exhibits, a working narrow-gauge steam railway, and indoor displays. The 40-hectare site includes restored logging camps, vintage equipment, and interactive exhibits aimed at both adults and children.
The operating steam train circles the site on a 20-minute loop through forest and across a trestle bridge — a draw for anyone who enjoys historic railway equipment. The outdoor exhibits include massive steam donkeys, early chain saws, and a restored 1920s logging camp. The indoor museum traces BC's forestry industry from the era of hand-logging and ox teams through to modern mechanised operations, with some attention to the environmental context and the history of Indigenous involvement in the industry.
