Trans Canada Trail (Columbia & Western)

The section of the Trans Canada Trail that runs through Grand Forks follows the abandoned grade of the Columbia & Western Railway — pleasingly flat, well-graded, and wide enough for cycling. Going east you can ride to Christina Lake (about 20 km) and beyond toward Castlegar; going west the trail climbs gently up the Kettle River valley.

Mountain bikes and gravel bikes are appropriate; full road bikes will struggle on the looser sections. Several trail outfitters in town rent bikes by the day.
