By road. Kamloops sits at the junction of the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) and the Yellowhead Highway (Highway 5) — about 350 km / four hours north-east of Vancouver, 550 km / six hours west of Calgary. The drive from Vancouver crosses the Coast Mountains and the Fraser Canyon and is one of the more spectacular routes in the country.
By train. VIA Rail's Canadian stops at Kamloops twice a week in each direction on its three-day run between Vancouver and Toronto. The luxury Rocky Mountaineer runs Vancouver–Banff via Kamloops with an overnight stop in the city.
By air. Kamloops Airport (YKA) has direct flights to Vancouver and Calgary several times a day on Air Canada and WestJet, plus seasonal service to a few other Canadian cities.
By bus. Long-distance bus options have shrunk since Greyhound left Western Canada; Rider Express and Ebus run Vancouver–Kamloops and Calgary–Kamloops services.
