North Vancouver eats out predominantly in three areas: the Lower Lonsdale waterfront, Edgemont Village uphill, and the Deep Cove village out east.
In Lower Lonsdale, Tap & Barrel and Black + Blue have the harbour-front tables. Burgoo Bistro does extremely good slow-cooked comfort food (the pulled-pork sandwich, the duck poutine, French onion soup) at moderate prices. Anatoli Souvlaki in Central Lonsdale is the long-running excellent Greek restaurant; reservations needed on weekends. The Beer Farmers at the Pipe Shop is the brewpub of choice for craft beer and casual food.
For ramen, Hapa Izakaya at the Quay. For Vietnamese, Pho Mai Tea House at Central Lonsdale — a tiny, packed, perfect bowl of pho for under C$15. For sushi, Ki Sushi at Marine Drive. For brunch, Cafe Orso in Edgemont. For dim sum, Cheese & Crackers Asian fusion at the Quay.
In Deep Cove, Honey Doughnuts is the famous cinnamon-sugar donut stop (queues on weekends). Café Orso opens at 6:30 for early-morning kayakers. The Raven Pub is the classic dark-wood-and-pints lunch spot.
