North Vancouver is across Burrard Inlet from downtown Vancouver. There are four obvious ways across.
The SeaBus is the easiest for visitors without a car: 12-minute passenger ferry every 12 minutes from Waterfront Station to Lonsdale Quay. The crossing is included in the standard transit fare.
Lions Gate Bridge from Stanley Park is the most scenic road crossing — three lanes that reverse direction with the rush-hour flow. Beware of long delays westbound in the morning and eastbound in the afternoon.
Second Narrows Bridge (officially the Ironworkers Memorial Crossing) at the east end of the inlet carries Highway 1; six lanes, no reversible centre lane. The standard option for traffic to and from the east.
Bus routes from downtown Vancouver run via both bridges. The 246 from Vancouver to Highlands uses Lions Gate; the 257 from downtown to Horseshoe Bay also uses Lions Gate; numerous 2xx routes serve the eastern side via Second Narrows.
The nearest airport, YVR, is about 45 minutes south of the city by car or SkyTrain plus SeaBus.
