Parksville's appeal is almost entirely outdoors. The beach is the main event in summer, Rathtrevor Provincial Park gives that beach a forested hinterland, and the old-growth trees at Cathedral Grove are among the most impressive you will find anywhere on Vancouver Island. Trails on Mount Arrowsmith add a more serious hiking option for those who want it.
