Nechako River Cutbanks

Steep sandy river bluffs forming one of Prince George’s defining natural landmarks.

The Nechako River Cutbanks are the pale, steep bluffs that mark the north side of Prince George, visible from much of the city. They are not mountains, but they give the place a distinctive edge: sand, grass, and forest dropping sharply toward the river valley.

Use designated viewpoints and trails rather than scrambling on unstable slopes. The cutbanks are especially good in clear evening light, when the shape of the valley stands out and Prince George’s industrial and wilderness identities sit in the same frame.
