When to Go

Winter (December to March) is ski season. The snowpack builds from November and peaks from mid-January through March; April skiing can be excellent. January and February have the coldest temperatures but often the driest, lightest powder. Lift tickets should be booked in advance as numbers are capped.

Summer (July to September) is the season for Mount Revelstoke National Park. The Meadows in the Sky Parkway opens when the snow clears, typically late July, and the wildflowers peak in August. Temperatures in the Columbia Valley are warm (often 30°C or higher), while the summit stays cool. September is excellent — smaller crowds, clear skies, and the first autumn colour in the valley.

Spring (April–June) is the shoulder season: the ski resort winds down, the park road is not yet open, but the valley wildflowers are spectacular and rivers are full from snowmelt. Worth considering if you want the town largely to yourself.
