Eating Out

Richmond is one of the best places in North America to eat Cantonese and East Asian food. The concentration of restaurants on No. 3 Road and in the Aberdeen, Yaohan, and Parker Place malls is staggering — dim sum that rivals Hong Kong, Shanghainese xiao long bao, Taiwanese beef noodle, Japanese ramen, Korean BBQ, all within a few blocks.

The food court at Aberdeen Centre is a proper destination: multiple stalls with rotating menus, very low prices by Canadian standards, and a crowd that is mostly local. Yaohan Centre's food court has been here since the 1990s and remains excellent. For the freshest seafood, head to Steveston where boats sell directly on weekend mornings.

The Richmond Night Market (summer weekends only) adds another layer: a huge outdoor market near Bridgeport station with dozens of street food vendors, games, and a lively atmosphere.
