One of Tofino's most reliable restaurants, serving Pacific Northwest coastal cuisine in a warm, wood-panelled room. The menu focuses on locally sourced seafood — Dungeness crab, wild salmon, spot prawns in season — prepared simply and well. The wine list is good, the service friendly, and the atmosphere relaxed without being casual. A better choice for a solid dinner than many of the flashier lodge restaurants.
Located on Campbell Street in the centre of town, Shelter is popular with both visitors and locals. The halibut fish and chips and the chowder are perennial favourites. Reservations recommended in summer. A good choice if you want proper food without the formality or the price of Tofino's top-end lodges.
