The Hundred Stairs are a very Flin Flon kind of sight: practical, steep, and shaped by the town's awkward terrain. They were built as a shortcut between Third Avenue and downtown, where the exposed rock makes ordinary street planning difficult.
Local lore adds a half-finished tunnel and Cold War bomb-shelter talk to the story. You do not need long here, but it is worth climbing for the feel of a town that had to solve simple problems in unusual ways.
