Summer is the easiest season, with long daylight, lake access, fishing, and walking around Ross Lake. June through August is also when the town feels most open to casual visitors.
Winter is severe but very northern. Come then only if you are prepared for deep cold and are interested in ice fishing, snow, and the hard edge of a mining town at -20°C.
