Odell Park

Large urban forest park with old hemlocks, trails, an arboretum, and winter recreation.

Odell Park is Fredericton's best green space: a large urban forest with walking trails, an arboretum, a duck pond, and stands of old hemlock that feel much farther from the city than they are. It is useful in every season, from leafy summer walks to cross-country skiing and sliding when winter has properly settled in.

The park works because it is not over-designed. You can make a short loop from the lodge or lose an hour wandering the wooded paths and botanic plantings. For visitors staying downtown, it is the easiest way to see the older Saint John River valley forest without arranging a car trip out of town.
