Calactus is a vegetarian cafe just off the downtown core that has been operating since the early 1990s — an unusual amount of staying power for a meatless restaurant in seafood country. The menu runs to thali plates, falafel wraps, veggie burgers, tofu stir-fries, and an excellent rotation of homemade soups.
Casual room, mismatched tables, mostly student and arts-scene clientele. A useful option in a city where vegetarian choices can otherwise be thin on the ground.
