Gros Morne Mountain is the park's big physical challenge, a steep day hike to a windswept plateau and views over Ten Mile Pond and the Long Range Mountains. It is a serious trail, not a viewpoint stroll.
The upper section is closed in spring to protect nesting ptarmigan and fragile conditions. If the weather is poor, choose a lower trail; fog can erase the reward and increase the risk.
