Halifax Stanfield International Airport has direct flights from major Canadian cities, several US hubs, and seasonal transatlantic service. The airport is about 35 kilometres north of downtown Halifax.
By land, the Trans-Canada Highway enters Nova Scotia from New Brunswick via the Cobequid Pass. From Prince Edward Island, the ferry crosses to Caribou, near Pictou. A longer ferry route connects Saint John, New Brunswick to Digby on the Bay of Fundy coast. From Newfoundland, Marine Atlantic runs ferries to North Sydney on Cape Breton.
