Petrie Building

The Petrie Building is a small but unusual survivor on Wyndham Street, built in 1882 with a stamped-metal facade made to resemble carved brownstone. It is the last known example of this kind of metal-clad commercial front in Canada.

The restored zinc facade is the reason to stop. Look up at the ornamental panels, window surrounds, and cornice before continuing through downtown Guelph's limestone core.
