The Sibley Peninsula juts 35 kilometres into Lake Superior, and from the shore of Thunder Bay it really does look like a giant lying on its back. Up close, the park is a maze of mesas, boreal forest, and coastline — 244 square kilometres of it. The Top of the Giant Trail (24 km return) is the showpiece hike: the views from the plateau edge are among the finest in Ontario. Voted one of the Seven Wonders of Canada in 2007.
The park also has shorter trails, sandy beaches on Lake Superior, and excellent lake trout fishing. Book campsites well ahead for summer visits.
