Getting Around

The historic downtown is entirely walkable — Province House, the Confederation Centre, Victoria Row, and the waterfront are all within five minutes of each other on foot. Most visitors spend the bulk of their time on this central grid.

The Confederation Trail is a converted rail bed that runs across the island, with a spur into Charlottetown. It is flat, well-maintained, and ideal for cycling; bike rentals are available near the waterfront in summer. For getting beyond the city to Green Gables, the north shore beaches, or other island destinations, you will need a car or a tour.

There is no useful public transit for tourists. Taxis and rideshares are plentiful in the city centre.
