The Musée acadien du Québec is Bonaventure's clearest cultural anchor. Its exhibitions look at Acadian history in Quebec, from settlement and displacement to the present-day communities along Chaleur Bay.
It is a useful stop even if you only have a passing knowledge of Acadian history. The museum explains why this stretch of the Gaspé coast feels culturally different from much of Quebec.
