Jacques-Cartier Park

Jacques-Cartier Park is Gatineau's main riverfront green space, stretched along the Ottawa River just north of the Canadian Museum of History. Its open lawns and paths give some of the best views back to Parliament Hill without crossing into Ottawa.

The park is especially lively during festivals and winter events, but it is useful year-round as a walking link between Hull, the Alexandra Bridge, and the museum district. It is also a good place to understand how close Gatineau is to the ceremonial heart of Canada.

A story
The park becomes one of the capital region's busiest public spaces during Winterlude, when snow sculptures and family events spill across the riverfront. In summer it is much calmer, with broad lawns and views back to Parliament Hill.
