Casino du Lac-Leamy, at 1 Boulevard du Casino, is one of the largest casinos in Quebec and the main entertainment venue in the Gatineau region. Operated by the Société des casinos du Québec, it opened in 1996 on a former industrial quarry site at the edge of Lac Leamy and now draws more than 2.5 million visitors a year.
The complex has over 1,800 slot machines and more than 65 gaming tables — roulette, blackjack, baccarat, craps, poker — along with a 1,100-seat theatre that hosts major music and comedy acts. A 349-room Hilton hotel is attached. The setting is more pleasant than most casinos: the building sits beside the lake, with reasonable views and a boardwalk outside. In August, the casino hosts the Casino du Lac-Leamy Sound of Light, an international fireworks competition set to music that attracts large crowds to the riverside.
