Casino de Montréal

The largest casino in Canada, housed in the French pavilion from Expo '67

The Casino de Montréal occupies the former French and Québec pavilions from Expo '67 on Île Notre-Dame, making it one of the most architecturally interesting casinos in North America. The mirrored, geometric French pavilion — designed by Jean Faugeron — houses the main gaming floor, with 3,000 slot machines and over 100 table games. A skywalk connects it to the former Québec pavilion, which houses more gaming and several restaurants.

Whether or not you intend to gamble, the casino is worth visiting for the building. The pavilion's exterior is a striking piece of 1960s French modernism, and the interior has been well maintained. The restaurants inside range from a good brasserie (Julles Resto-Bar) to a proper fine-dining room. The casino is easily reached by metro to Jean-Drapeau station and is often combined with a visit to the Biosphere or Parc Jean-Drapeau. Dress code is informal but shoes and shirts are required.
