The Route du Fleuve is the scenic way to reach Saint-Irénée, following Route 362 between Baie-Saint-Paul and La Malbaie. Around the village it runs close to the St. Lawrence, then climbs and drops through the old coastal settlements that make Charlevoix feel so different from the highway.
Drive it slowly. The pleasure is not one single lookout, but the repeated changes of river, farm, chapel, and cliff as the road folds along the shore.
