A viewpoint in the coffee hills above Atenas with a wide view over the Central Valley and, on clear mornings, toward the Pacific lowlands. The surrounding hillsides are dense with coffee plants, and the road up passes working fincas and the occasional ox cart. It is a short drive or a reasonable walk from the town centre depending on your appetite for hills.
Early morning is best — the valley is often hazy by midday and the light is sharper before 9am. A few informal sodas and coffee stands operate near the viewpoint on weekends; on weekday mornings you may have the place to yourself.
