Sámara's reef keeps the bay calm, which makes it the easiest place on this coast to put a beginner in a kayak or on a surfboard. The standard trip is the paddle out to Isla Chora with snorkelling on the way.
Camaronal, south of town, is a turtle beach with night tours in season, and the village runs a lot of its own tourism.
