A small airfield a few kilometres north of Samara on the road to Nosara that offers ultralight aircraft flights over the Nicoya coast. The views from the air give a proper sense of the peninsula's geography — the patchwork of cattle ranches and dry forest, the coastline of coves and headlands, and the open Pacific running south toward the Osa. Sunrise and sunset flights are the most popular.
The operation has been running for many years and is well-regarded; pilots are certified and safety standards are taken seriously. The flights last between 20 minutes and an hour. It is one of the more distinctive activities available in the area and worth doing if you are staying for more than a couple of days.
