Getting There

Cayo Largo is reached only by air. Vilo Acuña International Airport (CYO) on the island handles charter flights from Havana, Varadero, and a number of European cities — most visitors arrive on package tours from Canada, Italy, Spain, and Germany. There is no ferry service for tourists.

From within Cuba, daily small-aircraft flights run from Havana (about 50 minutes) and Varadero (around an hour). Aerogaviota and Cubana operate most of these. Day trips by air from Havana are sold as packages by many Havana tour agencies and include a beach transfer, lunch, and a catamaran ride.

There is no independent way to reach the island; you must come either as part of a package or via the day-trip charters. There is no equivalent to walking up and buying a ferry ticket.
