There is one reason to come to Cayo Largo: the beaches. They are exceptional even by Caribbean standards. Beyond that, the diving on the surrounding reef is excellent, there is a small turtle-conservation centre, and the offshore cays are worth a boat trip for the snorkelling and the occasional iguana.
