Almendares River Park

The Almendares River forms the boundary between Miramar and Vedado, running through a forested valley that functions as Havana's main green corridor. The Parque Almendares along the river's banks is a public park with paths, benches, and the kind of genuine shade that is valuable in tropical Havana. The park is used mainly by local residents for exercise and weekend outings.

Several small restaurants and kiosks operate in the park. The bridge crossings between Miramar and Vedado give views down into the forested valley — an unexpectedly wild landscape within a major city. The park can be combined with a walk along Quinta Avenida for a half-day loop from Vedado.
