Havana's climate divides into two clear seasons. The dry season runs from November to April, with temperatures between 20°C and 28°C, low humidity, and reliable sunshine. This is the most comfortable time to walk the city and the main tourist season; expect higher prices at accommodation and more visitors at the major sites.
The wet season runs from May to October, bringing higher humidity, afternoon thunderstorms, and heat that can reach 35°C. Hurricanes are possible from June through November, though Havana is less exposed than the eastern end of the island. The wet season has lower tourist numbers, lower prices, and — when it is not raining — a lush green quality to the city that the dry season lacks. The Havana Jazz Festival (usually January or February) and the Havana Film Festival (December) are significant cultural events worth planning around.
The shoulder months of November and April offer a reasonable balance: comfortable temperatures without the Christmas–New Year peak prices.
