The Bosque de La Habana (Havana Forest) is a dense forested area along the Almendares River in Nuevo Vedado, part of the larger Parque Metropolitano corridor. Unlike the more manicured parks of the city centre, the Bosque has a genuinely wild quality — high canopy, birds, and the sound of the river — that provides a completely different sensory experience from the urban streets above.
Several small bridges cross the river within the forest, connecting the Nuevo Vedado side to the Miramar-side of the Almendares. The forest is popular with runners and birdwatchers in the early mornings. It is genuinely refreshing in the summer heat.
