Regla Ferry Crossing

The lanchita — a small passenger ferry — crosses Havana Harbour between the Muelle Luz terminal in Habana Vieja and the town of Regla in roughly ten minutes, running continuously from early morning until late evening. The fare is a few Cuban pesos and the crossing gives views of the harbour mouth, the Morro fortress, and the Havana skyline that are unavailable from land.

Regla sits administratively adjacent to San Miguel del Padrón and shares the same working-class, Afro-Cuban character. The ferry is used almost exclusively by residents commuting across the bay, making the crossing a brief but genuine window into the daily rhythms of Havana beyond the tourist circuit. On the Regla side, the waterfront esplanade and the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Regla are a short walk from the dock.
