The valley is excellent walking country. You can set out on your own along the tracks that wind between tobacco fields and mogotes, or hire a local guide who will take you through the quieter parts of the valley and point out what you'd otherwise miss. Half a day is enough for a good circuit; a full day takes you further into the hills.
