☰Cueva Fun Fun

One of the largest cave systems in the Caribbean, Cueva Fun Fun lies about two hours northwest of Punta Cana near Hato Mayor. The adventure starts with a horseback ride through the countryside, followed by a rappel down into the cave entrance. Inside, the cave stretches for over 6 kilometres — you wade through underground rivers, squeeze through narrow passages, and pass through cathedral-sized chambers filled with stalactites and stalagmites. Taino petroglyphs are visible on some of the cave walls. The whole excursion takes most of a day. Not for the claustrophobic, but a genuine adventure that gets you well away from the resort zone.
