Playa Madama

Tiny secluded beach in a cove near Las Galeras

The smallest of the three eastern beaches accessible from Las Galeras, Playa Madama is a pocket of sand at the foot of green cliffs in a tight cove. The walk in (about 45 minutes from Las Galeras through tropical forest) is part of the appeal; some operators also drop visitors here by boat.

The cove is sheltered and the swimming is calm and safe, which makes Madama a quieter alternative to the bigger and more exposed Playa Frontón nearby. Again, no facilities — bring everything you need.
