Piantini

Piantini is the upscale residential and commercial neighbourhood in the western part of Santo Domingo, built largely in the 1980s and 1990s when the city's professional class moved westward. It is where you will find the best restaurants, wine bars, and boutiques in the city, along with many of the mid-range and upmarket hotels.

The neighbourhood is built around the intersection of Abraham Lincoln and Roberto Pastoriza avenues, which form a dense grid of shopping centres, restaurants, and apartment towers. It lacks the historical character of the Zona Colonial or the residential tranquility of Gazcue, but it is where Santo Domingo eats and drinks well. The restaurant scene here is more international and more polished than anywhere else in the city.
