Iglesia San Andres Apostol is the main parish church in Apaneca, a modest white landmark in the centre of town. It is not one of El Salvador's grand churches, but it gives the town its visual anchor and makes a useful pause between bus stops, coffee shops, and pupuserias.
The surrounding streets are best in the morning or late afternoon, when the mountain air is cool and the light is soft. Step inside if the doors are open, but keep the visit quiet; this is an active parish before it is a tourist sight.
