Playa El Cuco

Playa El Cuco is the village beach: a long sweep of grey volcanic sand with fishing boats, palm shade, seafood stalls, and Salvadoran families on weekends. It is the easiest place to get your bearings, eat close to the water, and watch the coast change colour as the tide pulls out.

The beach is not manicured, which is part of the appeal. Come expecting a working local waterfront rather than a resort promenade. Swimming conditions vary, so ask before going far out.
