Aasiaat is far enough north and dark enough outside summer to make northern lights a real part of the visit. The best months are usually autumn, winter, and early spring, when the sky is dark and clear spells can turn the bay green.
You do not need to go far. Walk or drive a short distance away from the brightest town lights, dress much warmer than you think necessary, and be patient.
