Igaliku has no road connection to any other settlement — getting here requires a combination of air and boat. The closest airstrip is at Narsarsuaq, about 15 kilometres away by fjord, with regular Air Greenland flights from Nuuk and Copenhagen (summer only). From Narsarsuaq, the transfer to Igaliku is by boat across the Tunulliarfik Fjord — a short but beautiful crossing among icebergs.
Alternatively, ferries run from the larger town of Qaqortoq, about 50 kilometres to the southwest. The ferry system in south Greenland is seasonal and infrequent, so check schedules in advance. Most visitors come on package tours from Narsarsuaq or as part of guided hiking programmes — independent travel is possible but requires careful planning.
