The most spectacular day hike from Igaliku follows the red-marked trail to a viewpoint above the Tunulliarfik Fjord, looking directly toward the Qooroq Glacier. The route runs about 17 kilometres (6 hours return) through dunes, willow and birch scrub, and a stark plateau of weathered rocks before reaching the viewpoint at around 266 metres. From here you look down on stranded icebergs resting on an underwater moraine at the fjord entrance, with the glacier filling the valley at the head of the fjord.
It is a serious hike by Greenlandic standards — bring plenty of water, proper footwear, and warm layers — but the payoff is one of the finest glacier views accessible on foot in southern Greenland. A shorter yellow-route walk takes you to a series of waterfalls; the green route climbs the mountain directly above the village for views over the settlement and fjord.
