Annandale Falls

Annandale Falls is the closest waterfall to St George's — 15 minutes by road on the western edge of the Grand Etang reserve — and consequently the busiest. A short walk from the visitor centre leads to a 10-metre cascade dropping into a clear pool surrounded by ferns and a small landscaped garden.

The local diving boys may offer to jump from the rocks above the falls for a tip. The setting is pleasant, the swim is good in the dry season, and it is a manageable stop on a half-day tour from town. In the wet season the flow can swell to fairly serious volumes — worth checking conditions before bringing children. A small entrance fee is collected at the gate.
