Getting There

Grande-Terre is served by Guadeloupe Maryse Condé Airport (formerly Pointe-à-Pitre International), which receives direct flights from Paris (Air France and Air Caraïbes), Montreal, Miami, and other Caribbean islands. The airport is on the Grande-Terre side, a short drive from Pointe-à-Pitre.

From Basse-Terre, the main road crosses the Rivière Salée via the Pont de la Gabarre bridge — the crossing takes minutes. Car rental is the most practical way to explore the island, though taxis are plentiful from the airport and from Pointe-à-Pitre. Inter-island ferries connect Pointe-à-Pitre with Marie-Galante, Les Saintes, and La Désirade.
